Hone Hurihanganui is the founding director of Engaging Well Ltd and has delivered the Engaging Effectively with Māori programme since 2013.
Hone's background is in education; he attained a Tohu Mātauranga Māori and Post-Graduate Diploma in teaching and has led and taught groups and organisations for 30 years. Prior to establishing Engaging Well Ltd, Hone held senior leadership positions in the education, health and iwi sectors including: Director, Māori & Pacific at Careers New Zealand; Executive Director Māori, New Zealand Correspondence School; Chief Executive, Rangitāne o Wairarapa Inc; and Chief Executive, Whaiora – a health and social services provider organisation where he launched that community’s first Low Cost Access medical centre.
Outside of work, Hone enjoys studying archaic poetry, genealogy and music. He is a playwright, a composer and enjoys singing with family and friends when the opportunity arises. Hone has four children and two grandchildren and values whānau dearly.
